Hi luckycharmseven

For calculating the Kua or Gua number, the first thing you need to see if the person is born before or after the start of chinese solar new year from the westren calander.
- Chinese new year starts falls on 3rd, 4th or 4th Feb. Birth time is taken into consideration if born on the chinese new year.

If you are born on 4th Feb 1968, which comes before 5th Feb 1968, your Solar year for calulation will be year 1967. ( chinese year new starts on 5th Feb for the solar year of 1968) taking the westren calender
But if you are however born on 5th Feb 1968, which comes after 4th Feb 1974, your Solar year for calulation will be year 1968.

To your point , Calculating Your Personal Gua/ Kua

For Male:

Take the last two digits of the Year of Birth and add them up until it reaches a single digit

Minus the obtained single digit with 10

Example 1: Male born in year 1969
6 + 9 = 15 (double digit)
1 + 5 = 6 (single digit)
10 – 6 = 4 (minus with 10)
Male born in year 1969, his Personal Gua number will be 4 (Xun Gua)

Note: There is no Gua number 5, If end result of the calculation is 5, Then replace 5 with 2 (For Male)

For male born in year 1977, his Personal Gua number will be 2 (Kun Gua)

For Female:

Take the last two digits of the Year of Birth and add them up until it reaches a single digit
Add the obtained single digit with 5
Note: If end result of obtained single digit when add with 5 is double digit, add double digit once more to obtain a final single digit
Example 1: Female born in year 1966
6 + 6 = 12 (double digit)
1 + 2 = 3 (single digit)
5 + 3 = 8 (add with 5)
Female born in year 1966, her Personal Gua number will 8 (Gen Gua)

For female born in year 1972, (Replace 5 with 8 (For Female) ), her Personal Gua number will be 8 (Gen Gua)

Note:-
Calculating Your Personal Gua (For Person Born in and after Year 2000)
i.e from born after 3rd Feb 2000 and before 7PM on 4th Feb 2000 ),

Take the last two digits of the Year of Birth and add them up until it reaches a single digit
- For Male - Minus the obtained single digit with 9 , is the obtained value is 5 then replace it with 2
- For Female - Add the obtained single digit with 6, if the obtained value is 5 then replace it with 8
