Feel Like Spring

E-mail Print
Manila Bulletin, Wednesday 9th Feb 2005

The Year of the Wood Rooster this 2005 is predicted to be a challenging year. Spring in the Chinese calendar sets in on February 9. Feng Shui experts say, starting a New Year without spring time or Lap Chun, a symbol of life and vitality, signals a gloomy year ahead. But there are ways of complementing this absence of springtime this New Year. Simulate it! Feng Shui expert Marities Allen suggests that simulating spring in your homes can balance the natural energies in your home. Here are ways of simulating spring.

1. Display Freshly Cut Pussy Willow Stalks or Fortune Plants

Celebrate the Chinese New Year with plenty of Pussy Willow, Plum Blossom or Narcissus decorations and fill your home with these wonderful representations of spring. Put long stalks of these New Year flowers into auspicious dragon/phoenix vases (red vases are best) making sure you have neatly sliced off the bottom of these long stalks to ensure that the Pussy willow stalks can absorb water. Absorbing water will enable your Pussy willow to sprout young leaves. If this happens during the New Year, it means you have successfully simulated the arrival of spring in your home. You must make sure that they do not spout before the New Year has arrived; otherwise you have missed the Lap Chun.

2. Create your own Lap Chun by making your own Spring Talisman

It would be enchanting to decorate your homes with a simplified Chinese Calligraphy this Chinese New Year. This calligraphy is created by your own hands and hence is imbued by your own energy. Calligraphy or the art of Chinese writing is a sacred art form that enables us to create auspicious words with expressive chi-laden strokes. Use beautiful hand make rose petal paper or rice paper with the character spring or Chun in Mandarin. It represents the birth of a new spring with an abundance of opportunity.

3. Create a Natural Spring (or at least what looks like a Natural Spring)

Jumpstart your money luck this year by locating a water feature in the correct corner in your house and update them regularly in accordance with the changing Chi energy of the year. Select an auspicious corner inside your home, and then dig a small circular hole into the ground about 18 inches in diameter. Place a pipe and pump water, so that it appears to sprout from the ground. This is so auspicious for bringing money luck in period 8. Make sure you design your drainage system cleverly, so the water gets recycled.

Putting spring into your homes in celebrating the New Lunar Year will help restore the balance in your abode. With a year that has no Lap Chun awaiting, necessary preparations and countermeasures are advised to prevent a difficult year for your household. After all everyone wants to ensure prosperity in his or her haven.
