I live in an old house built in 1960 and it is not possible to renovate. Would that render the flying star charts in Lillian's book 168 ways to harness your lucky numbers useless? Thanks!

Or, this is going to get a lot of discussion going, but you can "renovate" the house if this period is not good for you.
Lillian Too has said you can update the house by:
1 painting the ceilings - to change heaven luck, sep if you cannot replace the roof
2 carpet the floors or lay new rugs(area rugs) over the floors and existing carpets
3 wash and open all the windows and wash all the curtains to bring new chi into the home

If the house was built before January of 1964, it is a Period 5 house; If built after February of 1964, it is a Period 6 house. This is older than I first thought. You probably need to update to reenerigize the house, but this does not mean remodeling or construction. Check you FS in the home for period 8, and for 1960. Just because the home is not current doesn't mean it is bad for you. Check before you change. Some even say the period is changed when new people move in and the stove (cooker) is changed.
