The summer so far has been one filled with festivities. The Diamond Jubilee celebrations, marking Queen Elizabeth II's sixty years on the throne topped the list as one of the most breath-taking and awe-inspiring, not just because of the vast crowds that took to the streets or the incredible fireworks display and rock concert featuring all of Britain's big names, but also because some of the naturally-occurring phenomena during the celebrations clearly suggests she is no ordinary Queen but some kind of living Goddess. 60 years is a complete cycle of the Chinese zodiac, comprising the twelve animal signs in all five elements, and inside this issue, we take a look and what makes this lady really so special.

Closer to home, our family decided to celebrate my son Jack's 8th birthday big too, inspired by everything else being celebrated. His favourite TV show is The Amazing Race, so June saw him and his friends racing through a series of challenges for medals and money. This competitiveness fit in well what has been on everyone's consciousness of late… the upcoming 2012 London Olympics! The Olympic Games is all about honour, winning against the odds, hard work that culminates in that one moment of greatness… but in all sports, sometimes you get upsets, sometimes the winners are not who you expect, and at the end of the day, you always need a little bit of luck on your side.

We see that clearly in Lim Han Jin's analysis of the Formula One car racing scene, where the current season has had a different winner for every race. Never has that happened… but it suggests a more level playing field today as well as the fact that it can be anyone's race. Similarly in my sport of Horse Polo, where we are in the thick of the season, our Tuzitoo team, which won every match in the first leg of the Tournament, started to lose not from playing badly, but by half goals (the narrowest of margins) and one time even on a wrongly-calculated handicap! This happened on my birthday, which was not the birthday gift I was looking for, but since then we have managed to turn our luck around and are now looking forward to the Finals in Pahang.

Feng shui is all about timing. Everyone will go through good times and bad times. Sometimes things are smooth sailing, other times they are not. Jancy Liew, our correspondent from Melbourne, Australia, talks about this in her very personal account on what happens when afflicted Flying Stars group together in a sudden culmination of bad luck. How can we avoid this? Honey Lim's feature on protecting your Spirit Essence by taking note of the location of the "LA" in your body highlights how you can use this Tibetan system of health to shield you from harm during times when your chi is low. Lillian Too writes on Mental Imaging, which focuses on using the power of the mind. When things are not going well is when you have to call on your mental prowess to forcibly overcome bad luck. This issue we also celebrate Art. We spotlight the incredibly talented David Hockney, whose most recent works demonstrate just what art that brings good energy into the home should look like. Lillian Too also introduces us to her personal collection of Tibetan tradition Thangkas, featuring thousands of Buddha images, and she explains how their awesome sacred energies can stimulate an "auspicious increase" in one's life when hung in the home.

Our other resident expert on Cosmic Magic Honey Lim, who has been researching different lineages, writes a thought-provoking piece questioning whether Jesus Christ was indeed a Buddhist Bodhisattva who took rebirth on Earth to spread the wonderful teachings of Dharma to the Western world. This piece is well-researched and well-referenced, with much evidence demonstrating the many common tenets between Buddhism and Christianity, as well as tracking the lost years of Jesus Christ which coincides with the time when a mysterious Western figure Issa turned up in India to study Dharma.

Phillip Lim puts the focus on the Star of the Nobleman in his new column on Paht Chee, and we take a look at some famous people who have clearly benefitted from this star, while Captain Tan Hup Cheng writes on the feng shui genius behind the Super Trees of Singapore, part of the ambitious Gardens by the Bay project set to become an environmental national icon, but more significantly, brings to life what feng shui masters refer to as Singapore's 5 Dragons.
