hi all,

i have been working for my current job for 10 yrs, and feel like moving on in terms of prospect and better pay (current pay also on the low end of salary guide, stagnant after 10 yrs).....recently i have been offer a job and the starting pay is only difference 5%, i did some research and found out that the norm is around 15-30%, so i have asking to at least get 10%, but they mention now on 5% and after confirmation will have adjustment, but cannot confirm the figure, that's the uncertainty. so my question is, should i take up this offer now, or keep on looking? since now is year end, will be getting yr end 13th month bonus soon, leaving now and getting a 5% difference compare to current average pay is very minimal....pls advice, thanks

current pay package
21d leave
aws (13th month)
grp health insurance
medical + dental
local company
working location: 35mins distance

new job package
14d leave
NO aws
medical + dental
starting pay is abt 5-6% more than current avr pay
MNC
working location: 75mins distance

If you are near getting the bonus for the current job, stay and take the bonus for your work in the past year.

I was also looking at the benefits for both jobs. The current job has more benefits even if it has less salary, & does give a bonus. This may be why the salary for the current job is less. The new job is also farther away which means more cost to travel to work, and that will take up the increase in salary. It will also be more time away from your home & family.

For me, the new job is not as good as the present job. It only looks better to you because are tired of your current job & would like a change. Why not ask your boss what courses you should take to be able to take on more responsibiliby & learn more about the business? He will know you are interested in advanacement & learning, not just money, and may help you in your career.

Remember, to get a raise on any job, you need to show you are valuable to the business; not just that you have been there a long time. Start thinking how youi can be of more value to the business & this is how you will advance & earn more.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
