Hi (again!),

In line with our house hunting, we came across this newly rising development area. It is a gated community, and there are some good deals to be had, but with one catch: The perimeter of estate development is bound by not one, but two, "beautiful" cemeteries. (I say beautiful because they are well-maintained and "cater" to the departed of the upper class. Of course, this does not remove the fact that cemeteries are unlucky in FS)

We are looking at a property/house in this development. It's around 6-8 kms away from the cemeteries, meaning, it's not one of the houses in the perimeter facing the cemeteries. So it's a bit far and one won't even see the cemetries anymore.

Does this make a difference? Or does one have to look at the landscape of the WHOLE development and not just the house in relation to the cemeteries?

Thanks in advance!

T.M.

My understanding is this:
cemeteries so far away have no effect UNLESS they are on your mind.
As to looking at the whole development, you do want to look at the street plan, entry and exit of traffic, arrangement of housing blocks to understand how qi moves there.
Don't despair. The situation may not be nearly as bad as you think.

Tnx Devadog. Sorry made a mistake reading the map. It's actually 3-4 kms away from the cemetery. Still far?

I looked at street map. The property is effectively covered by other streets, and houses in relation to the cemeteries. Actually no street from the cemetery point directly to street of the house.

Just that I read an article here that the whole development should not be near cemeteries. But what if the development is big, like this one, so that the house is not really overlooking the cemetery, right?

Again, I don't see a problem but my experience with cemeteries is slight.
Are the cemeteries at the same grade as the houses or are they on higher ground or lower? Are they larger than the development or small? In other words, do they dominate the area?

The interest in street plan is not so much about the cemeteries as how the qi comes into the development, how it approaches and passes the house, etc. Is the house "protected" by the outer houses? Is there a good place for qi to pool in front of the house? etc.

I have sometimes thought that it is good that when I bought my house I knew no feng shui. I would have gone crazy trying to analyze everything and get it all right. Someone else would have snapped up the house while I was still pondering it all

And with what I now know, I would not have bought this house. I think that would have been a mistake because I love the place.
Don't despair. The situation may not be nearly as bad as you think.

This is not a problem as the cemetaries are not bordering the new homes and 3 ro 4 kilometers away is not close enough to do harm.

Thanks Devadog

The development is a lot bigger than the cemeteries. The whole area (development and cemetries) is flat and levelled so that no area is higher than the other. We are considering two properties from the development:

1) Property A is 3-4 km from cemeteries, is insulated by several streets, compounds, etc. One will no longer see any sign of the cemetery from there.

2) Property B is 1.5 km from the cemeteris but is also insulated by a major road, large compunds, and even part of a golf course. One can't see any sign of the cemeteries from there.

True that. I only know the most basic concepts in FS and it already is confusing.

Thanks LADYMOON! But what do you think of Property B? Is 1.5km a significant distance already, given the surrounding streets and other compounds insulating it?

Oh dear, further to my previous msg;

I just saw dev't map for Property B (still undeveloped -- roads to be constructed). The property is located in a T-Zone street or cul de sac (well half of it, since the shape is sort of triangular (!!!!)

Isn't cul-de-sac lots and Triangular shaped lots bad FS?

The distance is fine for both properities, but the cul de sac is a problem. According to Feng Shui, the chi collects and becomes stagnant.

Stay away from the home on the cul-du-sac; this term means, "bottom of the bag" and seems to be bad news for home owners. This is because since there is no traffic on the street children use this as a playground for baseball games, hockey, etc. This mean a collection of bikes & junk are usually left in the street by neighborhood children so the homes here look cluttered & unkept, & street parking is bad as the cars are getting hit by balls & hockey sticks, etc.
As for the house on the "T" intersection, I would think carefully as care lights at night could be annoying. But it is not as big a problem as living on a cul-du-sac.
After thinking about all the good & bad points, pick the one that feels the most comfortable, be it property A or B.
Good luck in your new home,
lady moon
