I am trying to find books about landscape/garden design with feng shui and have read a few of them, but none of them is really what I am looking for. The ones I read and found are more concept oriented with/in the nature, and especially the ba-gua directions associated with 5 elements. Basically, they are all about having water element in North, fire pit in south, white flowers in NW...etc.. However, this kind of information is very basic and "works only on its own" without looking the entire landscape design. I am looking for feng shui landscape design books that illustrate the entire landscape working TOGETHER, as opposed to water element in north or fire pit in south. I would like to learn how to integrate feng shui concept to make the entire landscape around my home flow from one area to another. I don't seem to find any books like that in the market? Anybody an recommend books like that to me, please?
Perhaps I don't have the right understanding, but I would love to have COLORFUL flower beds here and there and around my house. Each flower bed has the colors that compliment one another. Like in color theory, we use warm against cool colors, light against dark colors, and etc to make visual effect interesting and pleasant. In my profession, I deal with colors, color theory, and visual designs, I can create a pretty decent looking garden from the visual aspects and my experiences, yet I don't know how to incorporate Feng Shui with the visual impact that I have the knowledge of. It seems to me that in NW and W, I can pretty much grow white flower and silver leaf plants, preferably with round shape plants, sculpture, or the sorts.... If I want to activate the metal, I can add earth element to W or NW. OK.. so that's about it, it seems.....
Also, I am more interested in flying star, due to its nature of changing over time, instead of fixed sectors. However, I have NOT found any landscape design or landscape idea associated with flying star, except water element activating water star and mountain element supporting mountain star. That's pretty much about flying star in landscape, but nothing else about other landscape elements in design... Is it because flying star changing over time, so it is useless/difficult to apply it in landscape. For instance, once you plant a tree there, it is there for decades. Since flying star changes even in every second, landscape design elements are too permanent for flying star changes???
Anyway... anything will work for me, as long as I can apply some feng shui concept into the landscape design.
Please help.. Thanks
P.S. I noticed that the word "landscape" is widely used a lot of times as the entire house with the very short and close perimeter outside of the house, actually more so in the interiors. For example, the subcategory here on WOFS under the schools, "Landscape Feng SHui" has more articles talking about interiors than the actually exteriors and outdoors. I "SEE" the concept of the word "landscape" under this category is used, the house itself as a landscape itself. However, what about the actual outdoors feng shui??

Hi chueh,
I see that you most understand a bit of the word LANDSCAPE. Well, this landscape Feng Shui basically is related to out one theory call Luan Tou Feng Shui, or known as Landforms Feng Shui. This Feng Shui theory, have to go back 4000 years ago where the first book of Feng Shui written, which know as Book of Burial. This book starting mention about the Landsform.
Here more, Landforms Feng Shui is record of mountains shape, direction, location, water flowing direction, the pattern and lot more. Nowadays, still use it but edit with roads, buildings, commercial properties, bridge and lot more.
The answer for your question is, there is not such theory in ancient is record of the Garden theory. Do as you like it, follow your style.

Thank you JackyLee. One mroe question:
Some practioners think that the colors representing the 8 directions are more effective then the colors representing the 5 elements. Do you think that it is the same way when we deal with a garden?

Hi chueh,
Maybe the color just play some part of it, 5% or more only. It something like psychology, when people see the color and it made up different emotions.
In facts, the true knowledge of Chinese Metaphysics less or even no use of color to represent it. Unless it use for sign during ancient time to represent the war arrangement. As I say before, design what you garden like, follow your favor, your color, and type of flowers. It nothing related to Feng Shui.

Hi J,
I agree with the color part but slightly disagree with you on simply designing the garden.
It may have block the incoming or outgoing, or may changes something, changes of phases and etc
Sorry, this is my opinion only.

Hi xkfan,
I practice both Sanhe & Sanyuan.
Actually, SanYuan also got direct & indirect methods, which a garden may affect the outcome of FS too.
That, depends on the garden surrounding & design, small or big and etc

Hi chueh,
SanYuan comprises of many and very commonly known like XKFS, Flyingstar, 8M and etc...
How I learned it?
1) Walk up to mountains and find masters
2) In modern days, pay $ and take courses.

ya, thats right. Nowaday money and time are equally important in mastering this subject.
Sometimes you willing to pay but end up learning from someone who only half past six.
Sometimes you know someone is good but the fees cause you an arm and a leg.
