For this coming year of the Earth Ox, better conditions appear to be on the horizon after a difficult tail end of the Rat although it is also a year when adjusting to the new circumstances will be a challenge. How accurate can we expect feng shui to be in aiding us to navigate the winds of change inevitable over the course of time? And how effective can it be to shield us from being negatively affected by the fallout of last year’s gigantic financial collapses?
Having studied the charts, we bring you a bumper section on exactly what you can do to stay better protected and how to really activate the energy and maximize your luck. The focus is on building sustainable financial security for yourself and your family. The good news is that things are definitely looking better despite what dire predictions may be coming from economic experts and financial consultants. We have seen that reversals of fortune, for good or bad, do indeed follow from the transformational power of elements. When destructive they bring change and when productive they bring prosperity. 2009 is a year of double earth which brings stability!
November last year saw the International Feng Shui Convention discuss whether “feng shui is a science or superstition”? Attended by leading practitioners in the field, the subject was debated by over 500 delegates who attended. We carry highlights of the conference and Lillian Too’s keynote speech (see page 54) and also invited several practising experts who came to town, to share their feng shui observations with us. London feng shui consultant Richard Ashworth gives us his take on what 2009 holds (page 30) while China-based Jill Lander studies building design in the feng shui metropolis of the world, Hong Kong (page 32) and from the Indian perspective, Vaastu expert Surendran explains auspicious rituals for construction, renovation and moving in (page 80); those of you who have not yet converted your home to a Period 8 building may want to do so, and take heed of his advice. Feng Shui is also most certainly not black and white and Peter Lung of the USA focuses on this point in his popular column (page 82).
In the flurry of excitement to get our cures and enhancers in place, let’s not forget the fun! For those in need of some retail therapeutic boost we introduce some excellent NEW good feng shui buys to covet, gush over and make your very own. The absolute must-haves for the year: 2009’s specially crafted amulets to ensure protection against adversity and to attract real opportunities, at least one high quality piece of carved auspicious jade and... a very exciting new range, the La Storia charms. I loved it so much that when asked to be the face of this new collection by OE, I jumped at the chance! Check out La Storia at OE showrooms and WOFS flagship store at Midvalley!
Jan/Feb is big-time movie Awards season, so we check out this year’s likely contenders for both the Globes and the Oscars. The line up looks pretty awesome as it includes big names like Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep and the much nominated Kate Winslet who is also our Lady of the Moment. We’re also thrilled to be living in a time when the world makes history with Barack Obama taking office as the first Black President of the United States on Jan 20. He brings a breath of fresh air to a world grown weary of hostility and man-made disasters. We are inspired by his message – that we can make a difference collectively or individually; we can improve the lives of others by sharing ideas that make lives better.
Lillian Too kicks off her Feng Shui Extravaganzas this year in Singapore on Jan 4th at Suntec City Convention Centre. Catch Lillian Too live also on any of her tour venues in Kuala Lumpur (Jan 11th), Hawaii (January 17h/18th), Kota Kinabalu (Feb 15th) and Amsterdam (Feb 21st/22nd) or watch her “Get Lucky” tips on ASTRO through the New Year January/February period.
We at FENG SHUI WORLD wish you a very prosperous New Year when all the things you wish for actualize for you and your family!
