Feng Shui Australia
Explore the Elements, Create a Pa Kua - Part V
by Faith Ellis
Hello everyone!
Apologies for the delay in getting this final instalment to print,
the end of 2001 was quite eventful and life and death took over for a
while. Here in NSW people are battling horrific bush fires, the worst
for at least 20 odd years and the smoke, destruction and resultant
bravery has been amazing. The human spirit following on the back of
human stupidity is something that has to be marvelled at and along with
stories of deliberate destruction come stories of courage, tenacity and
endurance. I ask you all to hold the fire fighters, property owners and
volunteers in your hearts and send out prayers for calmer weather with
a decent dose of rain and an end to this calamity.
Living in a predominantly Christian country Christmas holidays have
provided a time to spend getting reconnected with our spirituality and
of course our families. In other areas people have been observing the
fasting month of Ramadan and in some instances celebrating Hari Raya,
which I think represents the equivalent of Muslim New Year (please feel
free to correct me if I have got this wrong and apologies if my
ignorance inadvertently offends anyone). However you have been spending
the past few months I trust it has brought peace into your heart.
Thank you to everyone who sent me emails, some of which really
taxed my grey matter. I love hearing from you all and hopefully being
of service. My concern is the number of people who wrote asking if I
thought they were compatible with their loved ones, children etc. It is
one thing to check out the compatibility of a new relationship, quite
another matter when it comes to one that is already established and
working well. There is saying that goes, "if it ain't broke don't fix
it". If your relationship is working well, then I am not about to tell
you otherwise, regardless of what a superficial delve in the wisdom of
FS might appear to say. It was not my intention to plant doubt and fear
into people's hearts and if that has been the case I would like to take
this opportunity to humbly apologise.
Feng Shui is just one tool, all be it a very effective tool if used
wisely and spiritually, that we could utilise to help us on our quest
to create our desired lifestyle. Ultimately we have to turn within, to
our heart, our Soul and listen to our own inner wisdom to provide the
last piece of the puzzle, the final solution. Lets believe and trust
ourselves, pray to whatever Spirit we believe in for guidance and
wisdom and finally have conviction in those beliefs. As you read on, do
so in the knowledge that each one of us governs and creates our own
destiny. I am merely a humble servant, doing the best I can with the
limited learning I have gained and am totally fallible in my humanity.
In this article we will explore our best directions, how to work
them out and how to utilise them. Having your Pa Kua in front of you
may make understanding the information easier.
In Pa Kua & Lo Shu FS, people fall into 2 categories; they are
either an East house person or a West house person. I will again use
myself and Eric as examples.
An easy way to work out best directions is to essentially split the
Pa Kua in half, remembering that, again for this exercise we keep the
Earth elements together. If you look at you Pa Kua, with S at the top,
you will see that East, Big Wood is located on the left hand side and
West, Small Metal on the right. Hence those compass directions located
and compatible by or for the East (Big Wood) represents the best
directions for East house people e.g. S, N, E & SE (Fire, Water,
Big and Small Wood). If we double check the elemental
cycles/compatibility, Water helps Wood grow and is productive to Wood.
Wood on the other hand is productive for and feeds fire.
Conversely, those compass directions located and compatible by or
for the West or Small Metal, represent the best directions for West
house people e.g. SW, W, NW & NE (Big & Small Earth & Big
& Small Metal). Elementally this one is easy, Earth is productive
to Metal.
By matching Kua numbers with any one of the compass directions,
seeing which side of the Pa Kua they are located, East or West, you can
work out anyone's best directions. It is really that simple.
So now you can work out your best directions and tap good fortune.
Utilising the Pa Kua you have created, work out the best direction
locations of your home, each room, your desk etc. Try to sit in an area
of a room that taps one of your best directions. Anything that you use
to produce income should tap one of your best directions. Face your
desk into a best direction, have a work phone line coming in from a
best direction, keep your bankbook in a best direction location etc.
Ideally your front door and your bed head should tap your best
direction. The areas you live and sleep in should be located in areas
of your home represented by one of your best directions and your
kitchen, bathroom/s/ and toilet/s located in one of your worst
direction areas of your home, (worst directions are the 4 remaining
compass directions that aren't your best directions). You probably
won't be able to get it all perfect. Maybe your front door does not
face a good direction, what to do, move, change the door? Sometimes
these are options, sometimes not, we can only do what we can do and not
worry about what we can't. For further clarity read Lillian Too's book
"Applied Pa-Kua and Lo Shu Feng Shui".
By now you have probably condensed and absorbed a lot of the
information contained in the articles about creating your own Pa Kua
and may be ready to start putting your newfound knowledge into
practice. Please remember to make small changes, one at a time, check
out the results and make adjustments accordingly. Have faith in
yourself and your ability, if you take small steps, do things that can
be undone if they don't work out for the best, you will learn, have fun
and gain valuable experience and confidence. Practice on yourself first
before trying to fix other people's lives and remember, slowly, slowly
catchee monkey. May the changes you make produce positive outcomes and
abundance fill all your lives!
Next article I will explore the utilisation and placement of Feng Shui good fortune symbols.
My wish for the New Year, whichever one you celebrate, is that it
be filled with Joy, Peace and Happiness and bring you all you desire..
