To help you along, this issue we bring you some very inspiring stories of how several practitioners have very successfully ‘done it themselves’. They learnt feng shui with the aim of using it in their own homes and businesses – and now let us show you how exhilaratingly successful they have been!
First there is Meera Sen, who with dashing husband John Chua invite us into their gorgeous Damansara Heights home, a spectacular showcase of element feng shui at work, applied so skilfully you don’t notice the “feng shui” until Meera points them out. A graduate of Lillian Too’s courses, she planned their home from ground up with husband John, right from the exact built-up area of the house to the shapes and colours featured in each well-defined sector of the home. Theirs is definitely an excellent example of how living at the end of a T-junction can bring enormous good feng shui! IF you know how!
Another savvy practitioner Catherine Chong, a Malaysian living and doing business in Shanghai confides how she used feng shui to help her and her husband build an amazingly successful food and bev business in China. She recently attended Lillian Too’s Inner Feng Shui Course so we recorded her thoughts and impressions of this and other courses she has attended with Lillian over the past several years.
For seasoned practitioners, Lillian Too puts the spotlight on the magic of numbers in Flying Star feng shui bringing you an update of the important 81 Combinations. This is a valuable reference guide for those struggling to make sense of the Flying Stars. Lillian shows how this branch of feng shui is actually easier to practice when we realise how clear-cut and formula-based it is. Those who like Flying Stars can have a good read of this long-awaited piece, and use it to update their Period 8 feng shui.
We are also delighted to introduce to you a couple of new contributors. Marie-Lise Chabtini from Lebanon is the bubbliest person you will ever meet. A long-time student of Lillian’s, she focuses on DIY feng shui bringing to it a refreshing new approach that incorporates upbeat humour and down-to-earth pragmatism. She tells us to describe her as a “well-being solutions hunter”! The feng shui version of the celebrated “Life Coach”, she writes some very tongue-in-cheek yet very serious articles that leave you giggling but reaching for your feng shui tools to get started too. We also have Wena Brussaard, another of Lillian’s students, this time from the Netherlands who compares the present state of the world economy to Yin and Yang, focusing on the Yang.
By popular request, we bring you a feature on the incomparably beautiful Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco, with a sneak glimpse of what the coming years have in store for the most eligible princess on the Royal scene today. We also take a look at Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni, two First Ladies who are making as much of an impression on the world stage as their presidential husbands. If anyone exudes excellent feng shui, these two very different ladies sure do!
On a more personal front, Lillian shares her recent pilgrimage to Borobodur, Jakarta, one of the holiest places on earth. She went with the highly revered Choden Rinpoche and a group of her closest Dharma friends. For those wanting to be with her as she recreates her magical experience there, Lillian will be holding her next Inner Feng Shui class in December of this year with an optional excursion to Borobodur - more on this on page 39.
